Tattoo Aftercare Instructions
Proper aftercare is essential to ensure optimal healing and maintain the quality of your tattoo. Please follow the instructions below carefully.
This method uses a breathable adhesive film like Saniderm, Derm Shield, or Recovery Derm. If your artist did not apply Saniderm, proce to METHOD 2.
Leave the Saniderm bandage on for 24 to 48 hours, depending on how much fluid builds up under the film.
If the bandage leaks or becomes loose, remove it early and clean the tattoo (see below).
Wash your hands first.
Gently peel off the film under warm running water to loosen the adhesive.
Wash your tattoo with fragrance-free antibacterial soap (like Dial Gold or Dr. Bronner’s Unscented).
Pat dry with a clean paper towel—do not rub.
A second Saniderm patch may be applied and left on for an additional 3–5 days, making total wear time around 5–7 days.
If not reapplying, continue with gentle washing and moisturizing as described below.
Wash your tattoo 3-4 times daily with fragrance-free soap.
Apply a thin layer of a fragrance-free lotion like Lubriderm, CeraVe, Aveeno, or tattoo aftercare products like Hustle Butter, or Mad Rabbit Repair Gel.
Avoid greasy, petroleum based products like Aquaphor.
Avoid direct sunlight, submersion in water, and tight clothing over the tattoo.
This method uses soap and ointment without any adhesive bandages.
Wash your hands, then gently wash the tattoo with lukewarm water and unscented antibacterial soap.
